| Chef. Wizard. Reclaimer. Savior of the world, now twice over. Two years away from home and many interactions later, Taako is still mostly the same art his core- distrustful, flamboyant, and brash on the outside with a softer core only a select few ever see. Despite his offputting nature as his emotional defense, he's found solace in his family and even some friendships in people outside of his home- though he will insist to the otherwise. Taako still doesn't trust other easily, but his presence has changed them; and as he's loathe to admit, they have changed him in turn. After being promised to be allowed to claim the victory he's earned many, many times, he's finding himself waking up in Deerington instead of his home. This is just another slight in a long list of times where he's been lied to and used, and somehow it feels personal but expected. At least he has his family by his side for now and at least the majority of his magic on lock, he has to belay his future a little longer to figure out what figure of power needs use of him now. This one better at least pay well. |

Devoid of those particular fears, Kravitz has become an overwhelming sense of stillness and calm in Taako's life. His position as part of his in-group but without the baggage of the IPRE mission makes him a perfect ear to help him work out his many, many problems. On the other end, Taako enjoys helping Kravitz find his passions and discover something to love about life. While putting effort into any kind of relationship will always be difficult for him, Kravitz makes him truly want to try- and that's something worth fighting for.

Regardless of how he should be treated, Angus is a grounding force for Taako, not only in morality but just in the goodness of the world. Angus sees the better in things, continues to fall for his gags, and despite his bullshit continues to adore him. While he's been getting better at expressing that recently in hackneyed gestures, he leans on Angus when he needs it- and for once, is allowing Angus to do the same.
What he knows for certain though, is that once they get back home? Angus is never going back to the home that harmed him. He may not have the power to change his past, but he will shape his future.

Lucretia is too complicated to put into words, too much history and pain and action tied up in years of trauma he's never quite addressed. Getting time away from her was good for him, but he has to center back to these feelings In the truth he'll never tell, he wants her back- he wants it to be the way it was between them- but he's been burned too many times by people who claimed to love him to go crawling back to anyone who's betrayed that trust.
She can stay, for now. Stay out of his way that is. And inevitably he knows this place will shove them together again, and again, and again, but--
Well, his will is strong. He can hate her as long as it takes them to get home, where he can safely never see her again.
