Marco's a weird kinda guy. Taako doesn't think he's the kind of person he'd end up talking to if they didn't already have previous connections, but being close to Barry and Lup has it's... perks? If Marco considers knowing Taako a perk. Regardless, he's easy to tease, smart when it comes down to it, and honest enough for Taako's sensibilities.
To Taako, the interesting thing about Marco is that he has the capacity to possibly get them out of here. Even if he isn't the main man running the show, he occupies a specific space of having power Taako doesn't while simultaneously suggestible enough to be steered in the right direction. It's slow going on that front, but Marco's affection for him and his family is continuous, so that's perfectly fine. He's hard pressed to admit it, but the fact that he actually enjoys the other man's company is also a boon- and in time, he may actually find space to say that to him more.
