TAAKO

Chef. Wizard. Reclaimer. Savior of the world. A year in a city can change a lot, but at his core, Taako is still mostly the same- distrustful, flamboyant, and brash on the outside with a softer core only a select few ever see. Despite his offputting nature, he's found solace in his family and even some friendships in people outside of his home- though those are few and far between. Taako still doesn't trust like others, but his presence has changed others; and as he's loathe to admit, they have changed him in turn. After going home twice, regaining memories and experiences, Taako's goal is still clear- kill the Gods. Escape the city. Protect those he holds dear. But the more people he meets, and the more that he can't take with him if he leaves, that goal is getting messier and harder to achieve. However, having been here the longest out of his family, he knows he carries a legacy no one else has. Now, to stop that from consuming him.

ANGUS MCDONALD

Taako's protege, magic boy, and all around best detective. While the way Taako speaks to the boy and the way he really feels certainly don't line up, it's definitive that Angus is someone Taako trusts implicitly and is in the category of 'keep safe at all costs'. Ultimately, he has no clue how to actually raise a child, and his outward empathy only goes so far, but Taako knows what it feels like to be a lost child with usable skills stuck in a world with no adults that give a shit about you. Whether he realizes it or, not he won't let Angus go through that alone- he can at least provide the guarantee that he'll always have a place to sleep and that he'll never go hungry. Sometimes that feels like the best he can do. Regardless of how he should be treated, Angus is a grounding force for Taako, not only in morality but just in the goodness of the world. Angus sees the better in things, continues to fall for his gags, and despite his bullshit continues to adore him. As far as he's concerned, that's a major win-win. And while he may have a hard time saying that out loud, it shows through in (at least some) of his actions- or at least how quickly Taako is willing to cut down anything that might be in the way of his beautiful magical boy.
