[Admittedly, Taako had no fucking idea what he was showing up here for, but now he feels like he knows even less. She said point blank she didn't do magic. Is this an artifact? A curse? He is so not good with curses.]
So uh... wanna fill me in on whatever this is? And why it's jammed into your hand like a fucked up piercing? You didn't just slam some fuckin artifact in there right 'cuz if so, the solution is to take it out and hock it as far as you can.
[He's studying it carefully, trying to centralize a detect magic spell without catching the rest of the fucked up lich magic running this place. Still, he doesn't want to touch it, not until he knows it won't fuck him up too.]
The short version of things is that this is an ancient, elven artifact that made a home for itself inside my hand when I touched it. No one can remove it, but others have been able to... nullify it a bit, because it's - well. Killing me. Just a touch.
[ Cullen had managed it for a while, but with the recent chaos of the war with the Null and Sorrow's death, this has been on the back burner. Maybe for too long. ]
[Thanks, Taako, that's eloquent. Did she come to him because he's an elf? Because he's getting the feeling her version of elves is much different than his.]
So you know that like, not all elf magic is the same, right? This isn't an elf thing?
[He is trying to look at it though.]
If I, uh, dispel the magic from there, you're not gonna die, right?
{Trust. Hmm. Well. That’s something he’s going to have to unpack later. Right now, it’s hard to concentrate on any emotional turmoil when this thing is cracking green energy much too close to him.]
Uhh, I got a few ideas.
[To be totally fair, she didn’t make a horrible choice from an outside perspective. Taako’s a transmutation wizard- he makes things into other things. Really, this would be a job for Lucretia, but a) she’s not here, and b) Taako would never want to give her the satisfaction. He can do this. He’s no dispelling champ, but he does know a few things about improvising magical solution to complicated problems. So, time to make that happen.]
So if it’s, uh, generating this stuff, I dunno if I can get it to totally go away, but I can probs dispel the overflow, which’ll give you, uh, more time?
[Yep. Sure. Gonna do it. What’s he doing with his spell slots today, anyway. Dispel Magic is usually a third level bullshit, but he’s gonna soup it up to a seven for this hit. He raises the Umbra Staff, the tip already starting to glow with a white light.]
I’d put your hand out and uh, close your eyes, this might be bright.
[It’s probably gonna be. But he waits just a few seconds as the spell charges, before the misty light at the tip moves outwards towards her, in more of a cloud formation than a beam as it moves towards her hand. It should- should being the key word- at least nullify the bits of it arcing out of her in dangerous bolts. If the magic plays well, it'll cut the effect entirely, until it starts generating more.]
More time is ideal, thanks. [ She'll try anything at this point, honestly. The pain is getting to the point where she finds it hard to joke about.
Cecily extends her palm and shuts her eyes when advised, frowning and silently hoping that this works. If not Taako, then she may have to ask the gods, and she hates to be in their debt.
... Luckily for everyone involved, the anchor does seem to calm a bit. She exhales slowly as the light fades, as the pain recedes, and flexes her fingers, testing it. ]
Thank the Maker. [ She mutters, clenching her hand, looking up to Taako with genuine relief. ] Or, really, thank you, seeing as you're the one who actually did something.
[ What's the Maker ever done for her, anyway? Bloody nothing. ]
I can guess it's not gone for good, but this is more than enough.
[He exhales quietly when it works, letting his shoulders fall by measures and lets the arm with his staff drop.]
Uh, yeah, fuck some uncaring whatever, Taako rules. But uh... you give me a little time to look at it, might be able to come up with somethin'. Y'know, to contain it or whatever.
[Not like he can put her hand in a box or back into another artifact, but... hey! Who knows. Also, this doesn't mean he likes her, shhh, shhh, you see nothing.]
You ever thought about just like, cutting off your hand or dying or something? Or do you come back, uh, with it still? Guessin' you picked that up back wherever you're from.
Of course. Whatever you need. [ She's rarely serious, but she does eye him with an unusual level of sincerity. ] Really, Taako. Thank you for this.
[ It's keeping her from pain and death, after all, so. You know. ]
I have died - here, that is, and came back with the same issue. I had my arm cut off once after it was infected by... [ She can't come up with the word "zombies," so she shakes her head and moves on. ] ... But Hope restored it same as always. It seems we're bonded together forever.
[Oh shit, is that sincerity? Don't give him that, he's uh, allergic. He mumbles a 'yeah, whatever' at her first response, moving on to handling the second part.]
Huh. Well that sucks. Yeah, uh, maybe I could work on like a... I dunno, bracelet or something? Keep it chill.
[He's not really an artificer, but Lup and Barry were always real good at it. If he can't hack it, maybe they'd appreciate the project, or at least when they're not being so weird at each other.]
For now, uh, that's not a super difficult spell. So just call me if it needs some simmer down shit again.
[ Look, helping her to avoid Deathly Pain warrants a real thank you, all right?? ]
A bracelet. [ She half-rolls her eyes, but is grateful all the same. ] Well, I'll be in touch. I imagine it'll be back to its old self before too long.
Hey, I'unno. If I was pickin' an accessory for everyday wear, I'd wanna make it something I wanna be seen in, y'know? And look, you're lucky, chaboy has a great sense of taste, so I got this on lock.
[He snaps his fingers with a few sparkles to go with it. At least whatever she gets will likely look slammin', wheather it matches her personal style or not.]
[ She's never heard anyone talk the way Taako does, but it's endearing, and he's endlessly interesting, and she's just glad he'd agreed - and was able - to help her stop the anchor's progression. ]
Noted. Thank you, again. [ Go on, friendo. You're free to go. ]
[He is, in fact, amazing and interesting, thank you for noticing. He gives her a little two fingered fake salute from his head, spinning on his heel and tucking his staff under his arm.]
action!

If you can dispel it. I'm not particularly confident, as the awful being who accidentally let me near it said himself that it was - er, stuck.
[ RIP in pieces, Corypheus. ]
Have you ever... I dunno, calmed the effects of magic? Sort of... tempered it? Ever?
